Girls Aloud singer and West End actress Kimberley Walsh is calling all glasses wearers in Hayes to snap a selfie in their specs to be in with a last chance of winning a £10,000 jackpot and a dream holiday.

Kimberley has teamed up with Specsavers in Botwell Lane, Hayes and anti-bullying charity Kidscape to champion the annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

This year’s overall winner will be presented with £10,000 in cash and a dream holiday to the Bahamas at a star-studded event hosted by Gok Wan later this year.

Mark Worthington, store director at Specsavers in Hayes, said: "We know how much people in Hayes love their glasses and we’re out to find the person who loves them the most.

"There are five different age categories so there’s something for everyone."

The popstar, who is pregnant with her first baby, said: "It’s been brilliant to see so many entries so far from Hayes. It’s obviously a place where people love their glasses but there must be more people out there and I really want to see them.

"We’ve raised more than £7,000 this year so far for Kidscape but it’s great that there’s still time. This year the competition is all about wearing your glasses with pride."

£1 is donated by Specsavers to Kidscape for every entry to the competition.

There are four age categories: 16-24, 25-39, 40-59 and 60+ as well as a Facebook favourite voted for by the public.

A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and attend a grand final in London in October.
