VISITORS to Syon Park in Brentford have been given a real fright this holiday, courtesy of a ghostly tour of house for Halloween.

Terrible tales about Henry VIII’s decomposing body and public executions have provided Syon House in Brentford with an enriched history, but have also drawn speculation that the house is haunted – especially from the staff.

The Ghost Tours ran for two nights last week to mark the Halloween holiday and gave guests a rundown of the gruesome history of the house as well as involving a paranormal specialist as their spiritual guide.

Leslie Feore, House Manager at Syon Park, said: "There were quite a few scary bits during our tours and quite a few people jumped.?

"I managed to scare myself as well. Before the evening tours I was walking down a dark corridor in the basement near the Crypt when it felt like something or someone rushed up behind me! Of course no one was there but I took an alternative route after that."

Members of staff dressed up in their most ghoulish gear for the tours, setting the scene for the stories that were recounted by the guides. Published author and psychic medium Carole Bromley from Southall then told visitors of findings from a professional paranormal investigation she did at Syon Park several years ago.

She said: "I was pleased with the outcome of the tour and tried to put those who were a little on edge at ease. I'm afraid?I did not experience anything supernatural during the tour, apart from fluctuations in energy in certain parts of the house where the temperature was felt to drop. I had however heard from staff about hearing unexplained footsteps."

Carole’s work has featured in many national newspapers, as well as on BBC documentary Shipmates, Raising the Dead. In 2005 she investigated suspected hauntings at Syon House on four occasions, where she recorded both audio and visual elements of supernatural activity.

The Ghost Tours were well attended and Leslie is planning her next venture 'The Enchanted Woodland' to start on November 18.
