YOU correctly reported on July 2 that five Hounslow schools, including The Heathland School, had registered an interest in becoming academies in response to the secretary of state's invitation.

Unfortunately, however, your report then wrongly described this as meaning these schools 'are keen to become academies'.

Speaking for The Heathland School, we are at least as keen to remain part of the Hounslow Council education family if that continues to be a viable option, notwithstanding the financial and other pressures coming from government.

Our purpose in registering is solely to ensure the school receives all the information available on this issue.
