A ROBBER who targeted cash in transit has been jailed for six and a half years.

James Dawson, 28, of Melrose Avenue, Willesden, admitted conspiracy to rob cash in transit and conspiracy to conceal, disguise, convert, transfer or remove criminal property.

The charge relates to plans to rob dye-stained cash.

He was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Monday last week along with five other men from south London.

Detectives launched Operation Puck to investigate a series of 10 cash in transit offences, comprising nine robberies and one attempted robbery. Officers identified the main suspect as Dawson, who was suspected of being involved in eight of the robberies.

The gang’s activity was brought to an end on Thursday, April 5, when Dawson and Sohail Amin, 19, of Huron Road, Balham, were arrested by the Flying Squad following the robbery of a Post Office delivery in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol.

All six defendants admitted the charges against them.

Amin was sentenced to six years imprisonment for conspiracy to rob cash in transit, while the other four received sentences of between a 12 month community order to up to seven years inprisonment.
