Robbers on motorbikes and armed with axes and hammers attempted to break into a jewellery store this afternoon.
One suspect has been detained after the failed smash and grab of H Stain in Victoria Street, close to Victoria rail station, at around 1pm today (Mar 11).
It is believed the rest of the gang then fled the scene.
Westminster police are at the scene.
People took to Twitter to document the attempted daylight robbery.
