Now that hedges have become symbols of London 2012, maybe we in Hounslow need to grow some.
They would provide barriers to pollution, homes for insects and birds and 're-green' the barren wildernesses of the front 'garden' carports.
Maybe the Chronicle could lead a campaign and join up with local garden centres to give information and advice. Grow a hedge for Hounslow.
