When professional gambler Tony Morris scooped £100,000 on a football accumulator early this month, it was a bittersweet experience.

While it took his total betting earnings to the £1m mark, it was a punt against his beloved Spurs that earned him the impressive figure.

Mr Morris, who achieved his amazing feat in four years, came up trumps on the first weekend in October - after correctly guessing the results in all 10 Premiership ties.

He faced agonising moments throughout the weekend however, relying on an injury time strike from Cesc Fabregas away to Sunderland to earn a draw, and Liverpool coming from two goals down against Manchester City to win on the Sunday.

And despite the fact that he had opted to bet against his own side Tottenham, the north London side were happy to present him with a £100,000 cheque outside their White Hart Lane ground.

Mr Morris said: "In the past few years I have had some incredible experiences and gone through some dramatic highs and lows.

"Waiting for the last result to come through is always the hardest and when I found out Spurs had lost I joked that I could now buy a flat in Watford so I could watch their away match there in the Championship next year."

It is not the first time Mr Morris has won big on football bets; just last year he pocketed nearly quarter of a million pounds on a six-part accumulator at 551-1.

At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he backed Watford to finish bottom of the Premiership, Didier Drogba to finish top goal scorer, Leeds United to get relegated from the Championship and Blackpool and Morecambe to get promoted.

Since then he has continued to pocket small amounts regularly and has decided to write a book about his experiences.

He added: "I specialise in long-term bets, because I feel there are ways in which you can't fail to win.

"I do think my book will be one of the best out there because I intend to let others know how to win.

"Obviously people need to realise that betting can be incredibly bad for some and it certainly isn't for everyone.

"I have already begun working on the book and it has got a working title of 6-4 against.

"It's often said that life is 6-4 against and this seems very appropriate when it comes to my experiences in the past four years."
