FRUSTRATION was vented on social media sites as tube strikes caused disruption to thousands of commuters.

Services in Brent and Harrow were limited on the first morning of the 48-hour strike on the London underground network and travellers trying to get to work were left confused and delayed.

Jubilee line stations took longer than expected to open this morning (Wednesday) and Marc Black-Settle wrote at 7.40am on Twitter “Dozens wait outside Stanmore station. No sign yet of Jubilee line tubes.”

Transport for London had announced that a service would run from 7am but many people were left outside Stanmore, Queensbury and other stations for almost an hour.

Tasha said on Twitter: “there’s like 10 people in my lecture cos even tho most of the met line is running its not stopping at northwick park.”

However, a Metropolitan line service was running between Harrow on the Hill and Aldgate.

Marks140s said on Twitter: “@jubileeline Kingsbury has finally opened 60mins behind schedule. Now 11mins til a packed train arrives #tubestrike”

It was not only the reduced service that was a source of anger but a lack of information as well.

Simon Everest said: “This whole strike business isn’t helped by your departure boards showing false or misleading info at Wembley Park.”

Nola Ferdinand said: “Good news...trains are stopping at Wembley park...bad news?..... They are not letting passengers onto the platform”

Many passengers who would normally have been enjoying a second cup of tea in the office were stuck on buses due to busy roads.

Hannah Ballyn said: “spent 3 hours waiting for a bus only to get from northwood hills to pinner! #tubestrikes #London”

@Michael_Gordon1 wrote: “Just got back from 4 mile local car trip - took 30 mins. Strike certainly hitting Harrow!”

Though some were taking a novel approach to the strike as YuenTing Yeap wrote: “Love how this guy is casually riding a unicycle towards harrow.”

A BikeTheStrike initiative was set up with organised commutes by bicycle and one ran from Shepherds Bush to Wembley.

No service is operating on the Bakerloo line and the Overground was operating with severe delays.
