A FURIOUS dad says Hounslow Council is to blame for a series of injuries to his little girl caused by an uneven pavement.

Chartered accountant Laurie Macmillan of Syon Lane, Brentford, claims his three-year-old Mia, has scraped her legs, bruised her hands and cut her knees after falling on uneven pavement and piles of leaves left by the council.

He said debris from trees are causing dangerous conditions on the pavements and, despite constant calls to Hounslow Council, nothing has been done.

He said: "This is not what I pay council tax for, this is a health and safety issue and my daughter is getting hurt. I find it very odd that from a health and safety perspective the council allows hazards to remain and let people get injured."

Mr Macmillan added that his nursery-school-aged daughter has had to help him sweep up leaves and grass clippings from the pavement to ensure further accidents don't happen.

He said: "Mia's a tough little girl, but when she gets hurt she does get upset. I just want to know how is the council going to rectify these issues?"

A Hounslow Council spokesperson said: "This is a natural phenomenon relating to all trees. Our Street Cleansing Team has a leafing schedule in place which is currently being carried out all over the borough.

"We have to prioritise roads in the borough where there is very heavy leaf fall due to the size and number of trees in the road as we recognise that this is a health and safety issue.

"We do not expect residents to sweep up leaves on the public highway."
