A MEMBER of staff at Kingston Hospital hopes to raise more than £1,000 for the Royal British Legion by selling home made poppies.
So far Yoshi Bunce, an outpatient phlebotomist, has sold 400 of the felt flowers she painstakingly stitches by hand.
“Four years ago I designed the template and I have been making them in larger quantities year on year – I make all the poppies by hand,” she said. “So far this year I have made 400 and I am sold out at the moment but I keep getting phone calls from people who have seen them on others and would like some too.
“The reaction from staff and patients has been really wonderful. I've had lovely feedback from everyone who has said how different they are.
“I decided to help the appeal after hearing about my husband's relative's experience of war and the heartache and pain they went through. It is very humbling to hear everything they've gone through.”
