Hoards of shocked office workers had to vacate a sandwich shop as a man collapsed during the busy lunch hour.

A man, said to be in his 80s, was taken to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital after collapsing in Fulham Broadway station’s Pret a Manger this lunchtime.

People grabbing a sandwich suddenly heard a woman, reportedly in her early 20s, suddenly screaming as her father went sheet-white at around 12:30pm today (August 22).

Getwestlondon sports reporter Paul Warburton was eating a sandwich as the scene unfolded.

He said: “I was just sitting there and suddenly this young woman started screaming ‘Dad, what’s happening?’ and I could see her father had gone the colour of papyrus paper.

“He then collapsed and the paramedics came within three to four minutes, they were really fast. They cleared everybody out of Pret which was completely packed as you can imagine at lunch time. Everybody was crowding round, they were really worried.

“I then saw they were working on him on the floor of Pret, it really didn’t look good. The girl was sobbing hysterically, I hope he’s going to be ok.”

London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 12:30pm to reports of a man who was unwell.

An ambulance crew went to the scene and paramedics took him to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
