A FULHAM mother-of-two has rediscovered her confidence after reaching the final of an international plus-size modelling contest.

Cacherel Jules, of North End Road, is one of 19 finalists next month in the Big Girls Paradise Miss BBW (Big Beautiful Woman) International competition, after beating off 400 entrants worldwide.

The 28 year-old, who weighs 16 stone and is studying to become a social worker, has always struggled with her weight and had her confidence rocked by ex-boyfriends. But after seeing posters for the competition at nightclub events hosted by the Big Girls Paradise party company, she decided to enter.

She said: “I thought about entering last year but didn't feel ready. I thought about it again this year and the day I logged on was the final day for applications so I didn't have time to think about it – I just did it. It is exciting but scary at the same time.”

After years of dieting, Miss Jules is now happy in her size and herself and is ready to walk the catwalk at the final at London Heathrow’s Marriot Hotel, on November 10.

The final, hosted by ITV’s Alison Hammond, will be judged in three categories – casualwear, eveningwear and beachwear with a modelling contract and cash prizes up for grabs.

“I was wary because being a plus-size girl means you are not exactly in a rush to put yourself out there to be criticised,” added Miss Jules. “But I am looking forward to the final and all the other girls are really friendly and nice.

“I used to hide myself away and cover up because I was so low on confidence. The competition is not promoting obesity but it is just a platform for plus-size girls to show that they are beautiful too.”
