EVERY pupil put his name to a charter for achievement at a re-launched school last week.

Henry Compton School has changed its name to Fulham College Boys’ School and is one of three schools operating under the umbrella organisation, Fulham College Federation.

The other two are Fulham Cross Girls’ School and Fulham Enterprise Studio, a new school catering for 400 pupils offering a new type of mainstream education for boys and girls aged 14-19.

Last Thursday, boys arrived with new uniforms to sign up to the new school ethos built around the word ‘ACHIEVE’.

The charter, which will be fastened to the wall, encourages them to aim high, celebrate diversity, help each other, inspire, embrace opportunity, value their environment and exceed targets.

Henry Compton School showed the biggest improvement in GCSE results in Hammersmith and Fulham in 2011 and this year 95 per cent of boys achievedfive A*-C grades , up five per cent on the previous year.

School vice-principal Peter Haylock said: “It has been a busy time but we are thrilled to have the students back and to get the new school up and running.

“We have seen a big improvement in results in the past few years and it is about building on that success now. By signing the board, pupils are also committed to improving.”

Bernie Peploe, the federation’s executive principal, said: “We are really excited about this academic year and this exciting new era.

“We are extremely proud of our results and both schools have continued to improve. At all three schools we understand that it is essential that pupils receive outstanding teaching every day.”
