A free sports extravaganza takes place next week to help residents discover the fun side of being active.

SportsFest is being launched by Hillingdon Council and will take place between midday and 4pm on March 28 at the Athletics Track, at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex in Uxbridge.

The council's head of community, Cllr Douglas Mills, said: “SportsFest is a brand new council-run event that offers residents the chance to get active and have fun at the same time, all for free.

“Relaxed and family-friendly, it features a bungee run, cricket bowling cage and outdoor zumba. There will also be information stalls that people can browse, providing inspiration for anyone keen to do more exercise or try something new.”

People of all ages are welcome to drop in throughout the afternoon and try the activities on offer.

Representatives from local sports clubs, leisure centres and fitness classes, as well as the council’s sports development team, will also be on hand to answer questions.
