An urgent appeal has been issued for foster carers in Hounslow as the national shortage hits 5,000.

Foster Care Associates (FCA) London and Kent has appealed to people across the borough to consider taking in children and follow in the footsteps of Pearl and Bruno Mancini (pictured), who were recently honoured for their servcies to children.

Sherlie Mitcham, FCA's operational director, said experts were on hand round the clock to offer advice and support to all its carers.

"The role of a foster carer can be hugely demanding but the rewards are enormous," she added.

"Our carers carry out a truly worthwhile role, looking after children and young people who simply need the stability and security of a family home."
