A former youth worker has taken over as the new vicar at Holy Trinity Church, in Hounslow.

Stu Wright was appointed last night (Thursday, April 10) as the new priest in charge at the church in High Street, Hounslow, at a ceremony attended by the Bishop of Kensington Paul Williams.

The 41-year-old married father-of-two is originally from Streatham and was previously a youth worker in Surrey. After his ordination, he moved to the Tollington Parish Churches in north London, where he was associate vicar and later acting priest in charge.

He replaces Malcolm Herbert, who retired in August last year, as priest in charge at Holy Trinity, which celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2011.

"I am excited about joining the local community of Hounslow and helping to see this great borough and town centre prosper more and more.

"We want to be a church that continues to help the poor and marginalised in society and be a blessing to all the people of Hounslow."

His first services will be this Sunday, April 13, at 9am for a traditional communion service and 10.30am for contemporary family worship.
