His face was flashed across our scenes every other weekend throughout four Formula One seasons so it is safe to say Jake Humphrey knows a thing or two about driving.

Today as he rode up the ramp of the Hogarth flyover on a motorbike, presumably pillion, the presenter tweeted two photos showing multiple detached wing mirrors splayed across the road right next to the 'slow' sign painted onto the A316.

His first tweet told his 717,000 followers that 'even the world SLOW isn't enough for some' while the next one showed the picture of up to 15 wing mirrors on the side of the narrow road with the hashtag: #WingMirrorGraveyard.

Now the main football presenter for BT Sports, Mr Humphrey was one of the major pundits alongside motor racing legend David Coulthard and former motorsport team boss, Eddie Jordan on the BBC's F1 coverage from 2009 until 2012.

The narrow slip road leading up to the single lane flyover over the Hogarth Roundabout and onto the A4 is a constant cause of contention in Chiswick, with motorists accusing it of crumbling. When it was built in 1971 it was meant to be a temporary structure.

Transport for London (TfL), who owns the road is due to carry out strengthening works on the flyover this summer and have already removed trees and shrubs on the roundabout in preparation for the work to begin.

This caused an uproar last month when Chiswick residents were told by TfL that the vegetation had been removed early to ensure birds did not nest as they would otherwise disturb them.
