FAMILIES across Hillingdon gave foreign students their first ever traditional roast dinner.
As part of Brunel University’s Big Sunday Lunch, organised by university chaplain Rev Sally Hitchiner, 50 international students visited the homes of people in the borough to share a meal.
“For many students who are far away from their own families and who have only read about real British family life in books, this was one of the highlights of their time studying here,” said Ms Hitchiner.
“The host families were extremely generous and often researched the cultures of their guests before meeting them.
“Many of the children were excited to hear about experiences of other parts of the world.
“When the families returned the students to the university campus they all had big smiles on their faces and were often carrying pictures that had been drawn for them by the children.
“It was a big success and we are planning to do it again next year.”
