More than 150 people braved the rain to attend a football fundraiser to support a Brentford youngster suffering from an inoperable brain tumour.

Joshua Godfrey, four, was rushed into hospital with suspected meningitis on June 30, only for parents, Stephen Godfrey and Donna Tyler, to be told he had a cancerous tumour.

They held the event on Sunday to raise money to help care for Joshua, and managed to bring in a total of £2,000 from a raffle and playing fees.

Joshua was discharged from West Middlesex Hospital for a few hours to enjoy the football, which was held at Osterley Sports Club.

His aunt Clare Godfrey, of Layton Road, Brentford, said: "The weather was awful but we still had a great day. The rain stopped just in time for the football which was good."
