A football fanatic will be escorting players in the upcoming England women’s match against Germany after he penned a new Lions song.

Omari Pond-McKenzie, of White City , will walk out of the tunnel at Wembley this Sunday (November 23) in front of 55,000 fans with one of the players.

The 10-year-old, who plays with White City Youth FC’s under-11 team, won a competition run by Surrey Football Association after he wrote a song for fans to chant from the terraces to Pharrell Williams’ number one song, Happy.

Omari said: “I am so happy and excited! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and its mind blowing that I have even won.”

Surrey FA had lots of entries but as soon as they saw Omari’s lyrics they knew his was the winning one and when they put it to the chorus of the song they were all tapping their feet and said they could visualise the entire stadium singing along.

The youngster’s mother, Eartha Pond, added: “Thank you for this wonderful news, to say Omari is excited is an understatement!”

Omari’s winning lyrics are:

Because we’re LIONS

ROAR along if you’re like Eni Aluko with quick feet

Because we’re LIONS

ROAR along if you’re Bardsley in the goal you don’t get beat

Because we’re LIONS

ROAR along if you’re Sanderson and you love a cheeky tweet

Because we’re LIONS

CAP along if you’re Williams with the record to be beat
