FOOD lovers indulged in dishes from all parts of the world in a new culinary festival.

Restaurateurs, delicatessens and specialists came together for the first Yum W13 food festival at the Forester Pub, Northfields, last Saturday (14), with food related children’s activities and live music.

Local businesses present included Poisson Fishmongers, Kathmandu Nepalese Restaurant, Smakosz Polish Deli, Oriental Tree Restaurant, Richardsons Family Butchers, Thai at The Forester and Sparkle Sparkle Cakes.

Friends and organisers Katie Silver and Cassie Greenwood said their event exceeded expectations in relation to turnout and how smoothly it went.

Miss Silver said: "It was heaving. I think a couple of thousand people attended throughout the day- the pub had to call in extra staff. We have had fantastic feedback; everybody loved it. All the stall holders were happy. Most of them sold out of what they had and I think the Thai was the most popular.”

Miss Silver and Mrs Greenwood, both full time mums with public management experience, said they are keen to have another festival.

The organisers, who both live in Northfields, said the idea for Yum W13 was born because they love cooking and eating out.
