I HAVE just read about the lady who had read about the treatment of patients in Fletcher ward at Northwick Park Hospital ['Poor treatment on the Fletcher Ward is nothing new', Observer, October 9].

My dad was in that ward 11 years ago and I was disgusted at the way one of the nurses treated my dad.

She told me that she wasn't going to be up and down all night, seeing to my dad's back.

I went straight away to report her, but the other nurses tried to cover up for her.

Sadly, my dad died and he had heard what she said. It angers me how anyone can be so cruel.

Why do they go in for nursing if they are going to treat patients like that?
