Five people escaped a fire at an Uxbridge bungalow early this morning (Monday).

Firefighters were called to an address of Croft Close, Uxbridge, just after 12 midnight.

Nearly half of the ground floor, part of a loft conversion and the roof were damaged in the blaze.

Five people had left the property before the arrival of fire crews, who were on the scene for an hour until 1am.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that their staff treated five people for smoke inhalation, but none of them required hospital treatment. A hazardous area response team attended.

Four fire engines, from Ruislip, Hayes, and Hillingdon stations attended.

The cause is under investigation.
