WITH regard to the Eastcote developers' plans to replace Initial House in Field End Road with 44 flats, which were turned down by Hillingdon planning officers - and rightly so - I, and many residents I have talked to, would very much like to propose that the building could be developed into shops with living accommodation above (Here to stay, Ruislip and Eastcote Gazette, March 31).

A ladies' (old and young) fashion shop and a shoe shop are very much missed.

For those like me, who have to rely on public transport to visit Harrow or Watford, it is not at all easy.
