Firefighters tackle DIY-gone-wrong blaze in Kenton

35 firefighters rushed to battle the fire, with no one left seriously injured

A man who attempted to remove plastering from his roof using a flame had to be rescued by firefighters.

More than 35 firefighters and officers rushed to the scene on Saturday after getting the call at 3.55pm, with the man already escaping his home in Churchill Avenue, Kenton by the time they arrived.

The London Fire Brigade staff battled the blaze, which left much of the roof heavily damaged by the fire.

getwestlondon understands that the man was carrying out DIY on his property before the fire broke out at the two-floor property.

The man was taken to hospital and has since been released.
