AS MANY as 50 firefighters were called to two separate blazes on Friday and Saturday in Hillingdon and Uxbridge.

The first fire took place at 3.20pm on Friday at Craig Drive, Hillingdon in two semi detached houses.

20 firefighters were called, and witnesses described an elderly woman being carried out of the property, with the fire brigade remaining at the scene for around two hours.

An even more serious fire took place on Saturday night at 7.40pm in Barnsfield Place, Uxbridge, off Rockingham Road.

A ground floor flat was devastated, with four fire engines attending, and 30 firefighters attempting to stave off the inferno.

The flat is very badly damaged and the front and rear are still charred and has since been boarded up.

There was also smoke damage to the flats above.
