AROUND 80 workers at the Nestle Factory in Hayes had to be evacuated after fire broke out.

The fire brigade was called at 2.05pm to reports of a smoke alarm going off at the coffee factory, in North Hyde Gardens. The fire is thought to have started in a storage cupboard.

Twenty firefighters from Hayes and Southall stations attended. Workers were evacuated but nobody was injured, and the blaze was brought under control by 3.45pm.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
