FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at Uxbridge College in Park Road on Tuesday.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) says it sent four appliances to tackle the fire in a workshop inside a college building.

A car inside the workshop was destroyed and firefighters cooled gas cylinders as a precaution.

The first call came at at 2.04pm and LFB said the blaze was under control by 3.35pm.

Four fire engines from Hillingdon, Heathrow and New Malden fire stations were sent.

The college was evacuated and the students sent home. Tonight's evening classes have been cancelled.
