STUDENTS from Longford Community School put their heart and soul into a fashion show last week, getting support from some of the country's top business chiefs.

Tina Kumar, 16, and her twin sister Anglee, both of Wellington Road, Bedfont, organised the Mark Your Style Fashion Show, which took place on Thursday March 31.

The event ran from 6pm to 8pm at the school, and was the brainchild of Tina, who decided to organise the show as part of her Rural Indian Schools Enterprise challenge.

The fashion show was the second of four challenges to be completed by the twins, raising money for schools in India through enterprising.

When they were in the early stages of planning for the fashion show, Tina and Anglee met with the then chairman of Marks and Spencer in September Stuart Rose to ask for his support. He agreed to provide clothing for the event. They also pitched to chief executive of Barclays Antony Jenkins who agreed to provide a personal donation of £100 to the event to help cover costs.

Tina said: "It went really well, everyone loved it. Staff and fellow students modelled the clothes from M&S which ranged from casual wear to suits.

"The show was very successful and was made to be very professional and a high profile event at the school. Free goody bags were provided along with refreshments. The show was very entertaining. All proceeds made will be going to the RISE charity."

It is thought that around £500 was raised on the evening.
