A relieved Feltham family returned to the hospital where their premature son was cared for earlier this year to show their gratitude with a £1,300 cheque.
The Ryan family visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), at St Peter's Hospital, in Chertsey, last Thursday, to say thank you to staff who treated baby Michael in May.
Mr Ryan, 34, of Lemon Grove, organised a football tournament in September to raise money for the unit.
He said: "We just wanted to say thank you for everything they did for Michael. It was a very scary time for us but the staff there were just fantastic."
The money raised included £450 from the tournament, £600 from extended family and £250 from the Alperton Lodge Freemasons.
Matron of Neonatal Intensive Care Audrey Elmore said: "We thought that our team representing NICU did well to come second in this fundraising football competition, but this donation is really the top prize.
"It is very much appreciated and will go either towards a new £14,000 incubator or an £8,000 breathing support machine."
