A MAN has died after being struck by a train at Hammersmith Broadway Tube station this morning.

Emergency workers were called to the eastbound Piccadilly line platform at about 11.30am on Monday. The station was closed as a rescue effort took place but the victim, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The station reopened at 12.52pm after the Piccadilly line was suspended between Acton Town and Hyde Park Corner.

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a person under a train at Hammersmith Tube station. We sent doctors and paramedics who arrived within four minutes but the man was dead at the scene."

A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed the incident wasn't suspicious.
