USUALLY thought of as part of the problem rather than the solution McDonald's is linking with Hounslow's police and targeting litter hot spots.

The fast food giant's four restaurants across Hounslow are supporting this year's 'Capital Clean-Up' campaign by organising clean up events where locals are encouraged to join McDonald's staff in targeting key 'grot-spots'.

Hounslow Councillor Nisar Malik said: "As a local councillor like to see businesses such as McDonald's getting involved in the local community. Litter is an important issue and events such as this help to both highlight the problem and encourage people to be part of the solution."

Employees from the Four Hounslow McDonald's will be tackling litter all through May with their first session taking place on May 17, where they targeted Ravenscourt Park and Chiswick High Street.

People keen to get involved in the clean up event can find details advertised in their nearest McDonald's restaurant and can view the website www.capitalstandards.com/cleanup/events/
