Parents and their children proved that learning can be fun during an activity packed day.

Oldfield Primary School in Oldfield Lane, Greenford , had their annual family learning day on Saturday (March 15).

Between 60 and 70 families of pupils from all age groups took part in cookery classes, ‘whodunnit’ games, forensic science related tasks and circus skills sessions where people attempted balancing and juggling acts to learn how to coordinate movement.

Students also merged literacy with art by decorating poems of the seasons with pictures to bring them alive.

ICT lessons were on offer and youngsters made powerpoint presentations of their family tree.

As the weather was nice the school had outdoor activities including a bubble creating competition, in which children then had to work out the surface area of the bubbles to see whose was the biggest.

Ethnic Minority Achievement leader at the school, Dorcas Afriyie, said: “We wanted to engage parents and children together and encourage them to learn skills which fit into our school goals.

“We got parents involved in activities they can also do at home with their kids so that learning can be fun.”
