More than 1,000 soaked in the sun at the Princess Alexandra Home's Family Fun Day, raising a stunning £20,000 for those in care.

The Common Road, Stanmore care home, ran by Jewish Care, held a day of family entertainment on Sunday including a delicious kosher BBQ, bouncy castles and face painting.

Speaking after the event, chair of the Princess Alexandra Home Special Events Committee Brian Eisenberg, from Pinner, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that the Family Fun Day was such a huge success.

"The Fun Day has raised over £80,000 to date and I’m delighted to have raised a record breaking £20,000 this year.

"The money will support the home to buy new equipment that will provide older people with a dignified setting and a place where they can take part in a whole range of meaningful activities to enrich their lives."
