A CAR was destroyed in a garage fire which started while the owners were out.

The blaze broke out in the detached outbuilding beside a house in Harrow View, Harrow at 2.10pm on Sunday.

As many as 20 firefighters spent four hours battling the fire, the cause of which is still beng investigated.

Harrow fire station commander John Evans said: "We had multiple calls about it so we had four appliances

there. It was a fire in a car port and there was a family saloon that was destroyed. No persons were involved.

"As it was a typical garage-like structure, there was a lot of paint in there, which caused a bit of a problem, but other than that it was straightforward from our point of view.

"We're still waiting for the report back from the fire investigation unit on the cause of the fire."
