Runners of all ages joined in the fun and positive spirit for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile 2014.

More than 440 people were sponsored to complete one, three or six miles around the Bunny Park in Hanwell on Sunday (March 23) for the event organised by father and son Paul and Ben Farmer, with help from Ealing, Southall and Middlesex Athletics club.

Newly formed local teenage metal band Catharsis kept crowds entertained and representatives from Brentford FC community sports trust, Dormers Wells leisure centres and face painters also attended.

MP for Ealing North, Steve Pound, also gave his support by starting one of the races and helping to give medals out at the finish.

Ben, 15, a pupil at St. Benedict’s in Ealing, said: “It’s the fourth time we have organised The Ealing Mile in the Bunny Park and this one was the biggest yet.

“Watching the community come together to support such a great cause was brilliant.

“We feel proud knowing that the money raised will help people living really tough lives right here in Ealing, the UK and across the world.”

All over the country, people of all ages came together to run, swim or cycle at over 1,000 Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games events over the weekend.
