Registration reopened on Thursday last week.

Participants will be running alongside 1983 London Marathon winner, Mike Gratton - but not for long.

Mike completed the 26 mile route in an astonishing two hours and nine minutes, and to this day is one of the fastest British marathon runners.

Richard Goodman, who this year won the British Cross Country Championship and the Southern Cross Country Championship, will also be taking part in the race and could well be the first to cross the finish line.

“We think he’s going to break the course record,” said James Shipley, owner of Active Training World which organises the event.

The times to beat are 24 minutes and 44 seconds for the men and 30 minutes and 22 seconds for the women. A prize of £50 is up for grabs for the first male and female across the finish line. A prize of £100 is available to anyone who can break the course record.

The race, on June 8, begins at Swakeleys Park in Ickenham at 10am. The course is two laps of a road, pavement and short grass flat course around residential areas.

There is one water station per lap. The minimum age of entrants is 15.
