WEEKEND pubgoers will be able to buy drinks into the early hours at an Irish boozer in Wealdstone.

The Shanakee, in High Street, was granted longer opening hours by Harrow Council two weeks ago.

There had been objections lodged to the move by the police and neighbours and a licensing committee had been scheduled to settle the matter.

But both withdrew their complaints after the original proposed extended hours were scaled back.

The Shanakee will now be able to stay open until midnight on Thursdays, 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 11.30pm on Sundays.

Previously the venue called last orders, and shut its doors at 11pm every day except Sunday, when it was 10.30pm.

Dancing is allowed, music can be played and alcohol is still available until closing time, except for Fridays and Saturdays when staff have to stop serving booze 30 minutes before the end of business.
