An executive headteacher has been appointed for a new Acton primary school.

Jacqueline Steele, who is currently head at Ark Priory Academy, will lead Ark Byron Primary Academy, which is due to open in September 2015.

Ms Steele will work at Ark Byron and Ark Priory to ensure that pupils at both schools enjoy the highest-quality education.

The head was founding headteacher of Ark Academy in Wembley, which Ofsted rated as oustanding.

Under her headship at Ark Priory, the school has seen 85 per cent of its reception children achieving Good Levels of Development, based on the Department for Education’s ‘Early years foundation stage framework’. The national average is 60 per cent.

Ark’s Director of Primary, Venessa Willms, said: “I am delighted Jacqueline has been appointed. Her track record is extremely impressive – she has had significant experience of setting up outstanding new schools and has created environments where children are happy and nurtured and achieve great things."

Ms Steele said: “I am so proud to be able to open another brand new academy in Acton. At Ark Priory we all strive to constantly deliver the best possible education and experience for every one of our pupils and we will do exactly the same for every child at Ark Byron.”

Ark Byron Primary Academy will open in September 2015. Parents can apply for reception places for their children through the Ealing Council admissions team up to January 15. Full details of how to apply are here: www.ealing.gov.uk/info/13/primary_and_junior_school_admissions

Ark Priory will host admissions events for parents who would like to meet Ms Steele and discuss Ark Byron on December 9 at 9.30am, December 10 at 4.30pm and January 12 at 4.30pm.
