David Hughes (Letters, November 6) attempts to insult my intelligence on many levels.

His response to my letter did not address the points I was trying to make.

Conducting an Equalities Impact Assessment to examine whether expansion (of Heathrow Airport) will have a disproportionate effect on different demographic groups on the basis of race, disability, age or gender, will do nothing but polarise communities further.

As much as the Government would like to define people based on race, there is no getting away from the fact that we all need to breathe the same air to live.

In addition, Mr Hughes might wish to know that women won the right to vote in 1928 and thus, freely think and express themselves - even married ones!

Finally, with regards to my husband, he does not work for BAA and never has.

KARLINE BOWEN Feltham.
