FIRE crews battled for over two hours last night (Thursday) to bring a blaze at a block of flats above a shopping centre in Uxbridge under control.
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters tackled the inferno on Pantile Walk above the Pavillions, which completely gutted the eighth floor property.
A man and two women left the building before fire crews arrived, and a further fifty people were led to safety by the Fire Brigade.
Hillingdon Council, who own the property, confirmed that they are currently putting up the evacuated residents in the Travelodge, in Baker's Road, Uxbridge.
There was heavy smoke throughout the building and firefighters worked for over two hours to stop the fire speading to surrounding flats.
The cause of the blaze is under unvestigation by fire officers and the police.
The Fire Brigade attended the scene at 11.17pm and it took until 1.27am for them to fully get the fire under control.
Firefighters from Hillingdon, Northolt, Hayes and Southall all rushed to attend the incident.
