EUROVISION fever is coming to Isleworth, with local singer-songwriters challenged to come up with an alternative entry for the UK.

The Woodlands Tavern, in St John's Road, is hosting its own version of the famously cheesy competition on Sunday, May 1 - two weeks before the event itself.

Entrants can compete for free at the special version of the pub's regular open mic night, which begins at 7.30pm, with a cash prize up for grabs.

The evening will be hosted by local singer/song-writer Elaine Samuels, who has performed on TV and at Glastonbury.

"Do you think you could produce a better song than the offerings for the UK in recent years? I'm sure you can," she said.

"Come along for free, have a laugh and enjoy hearing the efforts of local song-writers."

Open mic nights take place every Sunday at the Woodlands Tavern. For more details, visit www.elainesamuels.co.uk .
