Escaped prisoner Wayne Connor who was sprung by armed pals on his way to court from Feltham Young Offenders Institution was recaptured in the early hours of this morning.

Wayne Joseph Connor, 20, had been on the run since Monday after two balaclava-clad men pulled over a prison van near Clockhouse roundabout, in Bedfont, and threatened the driver with a shotgun.

But the Met Police today confirmed he is now back behind bars after officers from the Specialist Crime Directorate and Nottinghamshire Police swooped on a hotel room in Worksop at 12.15am.

Connor escaped on his way to  Woolwich Crown Court for a Plea and Case Management Hearing after being charged with two counts of racially aggravated ABH, ABH, aggravated burglary and two counts of burglary.

He is now at a police station, but the two men who engineered his escape are still at large.
