Eddie Redmayne has been appointed OBE for services to drama.

The actor, who was born in London and now lives in Westminster, was named in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for 2015.

Redmayne this year won a BAFTA, Oscar and Golden Globe for his performance portraying Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything. He recently married Hannah Bagshawe in December 2014.

At only 33-years-old, Eton-educated Redmayne has also starred in Les Miserables, Jupiter Ascending and My Week With Marilyn, as well as modelling for Burberry.

He has been tipped for a second Oscar win for his role in upcoming film The Danish Girl.

On his Oscar win, Redmayne said: "I don't think I'm capable of articulating quite how I feel right now. I'm fully aware that I'm a lucky, lucky man".

The news comes as Redmayne has officially been cast as the lead character in the much-anticipated new wizarding film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
