EALING pensioner Jeanne Socrates has sailed into the history books after successfully completing her epic non-stop solo circumnavigation of the globe.

Mrs Socrates, 70, made it safely into port at Victoria, British Columbia, at around 3am local time on Monday morning.

She had spent the last eight months by herself travelling across some of the dangerous waters in the world, with only email and radio for company, and is now the oldest woman to have completed the trek after two previous failed attempts.

The Ealing Gazette would like to offer its congratulations to Mrs Socrates for completing her incredible journey. Look for a full story next week.
