THREE day centres which were controversially closed last year could be demolished to make the sites more saleable to generate cash for Ealing Council.

The Albert Dane Centre in Western Road, Southall, the David Cousins Centre, in Windmill Lane, Greenford and the Links project next door could be knocked down within months. The three centres used to provide care for people with disabilities, dementia and mental health issues respectively.

They were among around 20 sites across the borough that were listed for disposal in a bid to generate up to £21million to replenish the council’s dwindling coffers.

It is hoped demolishing the vacant buildings will make them more appealing to potential developers and ensure a quick sale.

A council spokeswoman said: “All three sites have been empty for some time and are due to be sold as part of the council’s property strategy.

“We are applying for planning permission to clear the sites to make them more attractive to potential developers.”
