AN EALING youngster is aspiring to Olympic greatness after meeting cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.

Mizenka Opalinska, 14, was chosen to meet the six-time Olympic champion because of her role in the National School Sport Week held at her school, Brentside High.

The 200m sprint specialist, who trains at Perivale Park Athletics Track, said: “I am an athlete myself and it really inspired me to train really hard now.“

The 14-year-old, along with three other students from the school, met the Scot in a rooftop hotel restaurant above Trafalgar Square on Thursday last week.

Mizenka described Sir Chris, who won two gold medals at London 2012, as ‘such a nice person’.

She added: “I was expecting him to maybe be a bit arrogant or showing off a little bit, like you see some athletes do, but he wasn’t like that at all. He was really nice and it was amazing to meet him.”

Not only did she get to chat to a knight of the realm, but she also held Hoy’s London medals.

“My friends were all really jealous when they found out that I was going to be going to meet Chris Hoy,” she added.
