A RIOTER who set two cars ablaze, smashed a shop window and was caught on CCTV filming his exploits on his mobile phone, has been jailed for five and a half years.

Sabaoon Hillaman, 23, of Ruislip Road, Greenford, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court today (25) for his part in the violent disorder which swept through Ealing town centre on August 8.

The Afghan national was filmed on CCTV helping a gang of youths overturn a Smart car which has been dragged into the middle of Bond Street and used as a barricade.

The group repeatedly tried to set light to the car which erupted into flames, while a another group pelted police officers with bricks, bottles and other missiles.

Hillaman was also caught on camera setting light to another vehicle parked at the side of the road using flaming material from a make-shift bonfire they had created in the middle of the road.

All the vehicles were completely destroyed during the night.

The thugs, including Hillaman, began smashing windows in premises along Ealing Green, looting shops and firing missiles at police from behind the flaming barricades they had made.

At one point, Hillaman threw a fire extinguisher through the shop window of Big Jim's Trims hairdressers in Ealing Green, causing s3,000 worth of damage.

The criminal was arrested at his home address. He pleaded guilty to violent disorder, two counts of arson and criminal damage last week.

At the time of the offences, he was on bail to Woolwich Crown Court after pleading guilty to fraud.

Sergeant Robin Dodd, of Ealing Police, leading the investigation, said: "In interview Hillaman could offer no explanation as to why he had committed these offences. I, along with the rest of the community in Ealing, cannot comprehend what has led to this behaviour.

"Today's conviction shows that our community will not tolerate such behaviour, and that the full force of the law will be brought to bear on thugs like Hillaman."
