A GROUP of workers inspired by a celebrity trek in aid of Red Nose Day is embarking on the challenge of a lifetime to raise thousands of pounds for a children's charity.

The team of nine (right) who work at Kantar, a research consultancy firm in Hanger Lane, Ealing, will be joined by 11 staff from other offices as they climb Mount Kilimanjaro over the course of eight days and are hoping to raise £50,000 for UNICEF.

Stephen Lavery, who helped organise the event said the team is looking forward to the challenge, despite the knowledge they will be trekking though unpredictable terrain, winds of up to 60mph and temperatures as low as -200C towards the top of the mountain.

The 27-year-old from Chiswick, said: "We saw that the celebrities climbed the mountain and thought it would be a really good idea for a personal challenge and to help a charity. We've never done anything like this before as it's pretty much eight days uphill.

"Kantar already works with UNICEF on the Children's Corners Project in Malawi, which looks after children who have lost their parents to Aids and offers them a better life."We have our personal targets of £1,700 and Kantar will donate £2,000 for every worker who completes the challenge.

"We're more excited than nervous and hope people will donate money to this fantastic cause."
