AN 11-year-old girl is making a bid for stardom after starring in a TV movie on BBC 2 this week.

Imani Williams, who attends Corona Theatre School in Ealing, plays the part of Grace in the film ‘Shirley’ which broadcasts tonight (Thursday September 29). The film tells the story of the early life and career of Dame Shirley Bassey and Imani plays the part of her sister, Grace.

She said: "It was so much fun to work on, I loved working with everyone, they were all so creative and talented. I’m really lucky that the school can get me roles like this and it was also really fun shooting on location in Wales."

Imani, who lives in Acton, has been at the school for three years and said she dreams of being a singer when she gets older and that one of her heroes is pop superstar Beyonce.

Sadly she didn’t get to meet Dame Shirley but she get to work with Ruth Negga, who plays the title role and also starred in the hit E4 drama ‘Misfits’.

Imani’s mum Kirsty said: "She had such a amazing time working on the film. I’m so proud of her and I love her to bits."

Mary Greco, principal at Corona said: "Imani is a shining example of talent at our school. We are all so proud of her success."
